Life Cycle Associates has successfully modified the BioGrace calculation tool for algal biofuels to perform all of the calculations and allocation procedures specified in the ISCC 205 methodology (GHG Emissions Calculation Methodology and GHG Audit). Energy inputs and emissions are calculated for each step in the fuel cycle. Emissions are allocated to the final fuel mix and co-product(s) by energy content consistent with the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED) requirements.
More recently Life Cycle Associates modified the Biograce model to accommodate LCI data for U.S. electric power as well as additional cultivation inputs and transport of final fuel to Europe. Life Cycle Associates’ modeling approaches were audited by ISCC approved auditors to meet the requirements of the RED for several clients that sell biofuels in Europe.
